Kelcy Warren Supports Children, Health Care, and Youth Baseball

Some of Kelcy Warren’s charitable work happens far from boardrooms and pipeline routes. The Energy Transfer founder and executive chairman directs part of his giving toward children’s organizations, medical institutions, and young athletes in Dallas.

Youth Baseball in West Dallas

Since 2018, Kelcy Warren has been a strong supporter of the West Dallas Youth Academy. That support grew out of a partnership he fostered between Energy Transfer and Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers. The arrangement links a major energy company and a professional sports franchise around a shared community program.

Youth sports academies give kids structured activity, coaching, and mentorship, and corporate partnerships can help keep such programs funded over time.

Medicine and Child Welfare

His giving list includes MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the country’s best-known cancer treatment and research institutions. He also supports the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center and the March of Dimes, which focuses on the health of mothers and babies.

Education receives steady attention too. Kelcy Warren regularly supports schools from the grade school level up through universities. His largest education gift went to the University of Texas at Arlington in 2023: $12 million, the biggest single donation in the school’s history, aimed at its resource and energy engineering program.

Public space is another focus. A $10 million gift in 2012 was instrumental in creating Klyde Warren Park, a 5.2-acre green space in Dallas. He has since added $20 million to expand the park and offer more free programs to the public, many of which serve families.

He is also a supporter of the Bush Foundation.

Energy and business organizations have honored him for innovative leadership, with recent recognition from Hart Energy, TXOGA, SMU Cox’s Maguire Energy Institute, and D CEO Magazine. The company’s own account, however, gives equal weight to his philanthropy, describing a leader who cares about making a difference in people’s lives. For the children in West Dallas who show up to practice, that difference is measured in time on the field. Refer to this article to learn more.
